Zoolander 2

Really, really, ridiculously disappointing.

The Assassin

There are martial arts movies and there are martial arts movies. The Assassin isn't either.

Batman v Superman

A bold, mature exploration of myths and epics - followed by a two-hour mess.

LFF interview: Tom Hardy on Locke and Mad Max reshoots

Locke is a wonderful little film that consists entirely of a man driving a car for 90 minutes. Sound dull? Not when Tom Hardy is the one behind the steering wheel. Steven Knight's confined character study keeps you engaged throughout its tight runtime, producing one of the most interesting (and unique) films of the London Film Festival.

Speaking on the red carpet at the movie's premiere, Tom Hardy, Andrew Scott and Steven Knight explained how the project came about - and what it was like to spend hours on end stuck in a car.

Here are five things we learned about Locke:

LFF Interview: Tom Hiddleston's Samuel L. Jackson impression and Only Lovers Left Alive

Premieres are curious things: sometimes, stars rush past fans and press alike and head straight for the cinema. And sometimes, even when they're running late, they sign autographs for the crowds and do impressions of Samuel L. Jackson.

Tom Hiddleston falls into the latter camp.

Talking on the red carpet at the London Film Festival Gala screening of Only Lovers Left Alive, the actor - famous for playing Loki in Thor and The Avengers - spoke about the appeal of Jim Jarmusch's unique take on the vampire genre.

LFF Interview: Chiwetel Ejiofor, Steve McQueen - 12 Years a Slave

"I'm either making a film about slavery or I'm not."

That was director Steve McQueen talking at the press conference for 12 Years a Slave at the London Film Festival. Together with lead actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, the pair spoke at length about the brutality on screen and the extent to which they pushed themselves to tell Solomon Northup's true, harrowing, extraordinary story - and tell it honestly.

LFF interview: Lupita Nyong'o on 12 Years a Slave

A lot of talk has surrounded Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender in 12 Years a Slave - and deservedly so. But Steve McQueen's harrowing true drama, which had its UK premiere at the London Film Festival this week, also features another astonishing turn: that of Lupita Nyongo'o.

Playing Patsey, the slave owned by Michael Fassbender's Epps, she is abused, whipped and mistreated horribly on screen. She spoke to me briefly at the London Film Festival premiere about how she came to be involved in the landmark piece of cinema:

Brian McGuire, Prevertere, interview

"I'm a creative idiot. That's my deal."

That's Brian McGuire, director of Prevertere, which had its European premiere on Friday at the Raindance Film Festival. He's also the director of Carlos Spills the Beans, which had its European premiere at Raindance tonight. And he appears in 9 Full Moons, which had its European premiere yesterday.

That's a lot of films for one man, not to mention his credits in projects ranging from In Search of a Midnight Kiss to The Thompsons. And his work as techno DJ. And his own label, LeftHouse Recordings, which he uses to make the soundtracks for his films.

The multi-talented creative idiot talks to me about perverts, taking over London's indie film festival and, erm, naked men on roller skates.
