Premieres are curious things: sometimes, stars rush past fans and press alike and head straight for the cinema. And sometimes, even when they're running late, they sign autographs for the crowds and do impressions of Samuel L. Jackson.

Tom Hiddleston falls into the latter camp.

Talking on the red carpet at the London Film Festival Gala screening of Only Lovers Left Alive, the actor - famous for playing Loki in Thor and The Avengers - spoke about the appeal of Jim Jarmusch's unique take on the vampire genre.

"Jim is a completely unique voice in cinema - it was such a pleasure to work with him. He has huge knowledge and wisdom about music and poetry."

"Whenever I make a new film," he added, "it always feels like a new adventure… I've never played a musician before - my character in this plays a violin and a lute - and I've never made a film about love in this way. These two characters, my character and Tilda's characters are two delicate, refined creatures who happen to live forever - therefore, how does the nature of their love change over time?"

Then, at the request of fans, he agreed to do an impression. What would it be like if Samuel L. Jackson played Loki? "I think he'd have an issue with that, given he plays a Marvel character himself," commented Tom.
