Harry Potter is still top of the UK Box Office. Quel surprise.

The Boy who Lived dropped 55% to take £8.3m for a solid second weekend. That's £14k per screen, by the way. The new releases this week had a scatter-shot impact, all fighting for the rest of the UK's cinema space.

Unstoppable bagged second spot with a strong £1.7m, but London Boulevard was the closest after that, with just £577k.

Clooney got less love & 200 fewer screens than The Knightley, with The American taking £411k. That's Clooney's lowest opening since 2005's Good Night and Good Luck (a masterpiece that got £5k less when it was first released).

Anton Corbijn's arthouse thriller sadly took less than Due Date, but double that of The Girl with the Hornets' Nest. The final part of Momentum's Millennium Trilogy got only £219k, not helped by unfavourable reviews. But floppy hair topped floppy knives, as Machete scraped £90k way down in 10th place. To compare it to his previous Grindhouse effort, it barely beat Planet Terror's £80k, despite having 100 more screens.

It's been a cluttered week at the cinema, so it's no wonder than Rowling's wizard continues his spell of dominance. But if Danny Trejo, Lisbeth Salander, George Clooney & a train-wielding black man can't beat Potter, who can? Three weeks to Tron Legacy... 

Ok folks, put down your fried chicken, because here it is: your chance to meet Hogwart's only black kid, Bem.

It's not until halfway through the third Harry Potter film that Bem appears. He turns up whenever anyone mentions the words "dark" or "black" to add a bit of colour to the scene.

He only says two lines in the entire movie, so it's with great excitement that we present this exclusive interview with Bem. The unsung star of Prisoner of Azkaban finally has the chance to speak about Harry Potter, institutionalised racism, and his acting career in general.

Hands up who saw it coming. Not HP7 - that was harder to miss than Hagrid flying a motorbike into your mum - but the sheer quality of the whole thing. Or more accurately, half of it. The first part of the last part of the ever-darkening franchise, Deathly Hallows Part 1 is the best film of the lot. Yes, even better than The Columbus Years.

For those too clever to subject themselves to the wrath of Michael Fish, you can watch all the weather-beaten fun of the Deathly Hallows premiere live from the warmth of your own home.

So it's only 9 more days until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One is released. And it's only 3 days until I see it for review. And it's only 1 day until I attempt to watch all the previous movies in a row as some kind of Harry Potter Marathon (witty name to come later, along with some kind of post).

To celebrate all these wonderful landmarks, we've got some shiny new clips from the film, as well as a featurette giving you a glimpse at the making of Alexandre Desplat's soundtrack (does anyone else miss Nicholas Hooper?).

The clips are a wonderful action-heavy selection, with lots of sparks flying and constant wand flicking from all the cast. The highlight is clearly Emma Watson turning to a poor muggle in a cafe and bellowing "GO! LEAVE!" in a deep manly voice.

You also get the chance to hear Exec Producer David Heyman make a music pun, and then pretend that he wasn't up till 4am thinking of something witty to say: "The great thing about Alexandre is he's such a flexible composer... And we have a number of different notes to hit - no pun intended." Whatevs, David. Your film looks awesome so I'll STAVE off my doubts.

Either way, these are a good distraction while I work out how on earth I'll survive re-watching Harry Potter: The Columbus Years. Suggestions welcome below.

It's always a lovely way to end a week - with a new Harry Potter trailer. Especially one with lots of cute videos of ickle Danny Radcliffe back when he was a tiny wee moppet.

Good job that's what we got then, just before Halloween hit: an all-new trailer for Deathly Hallows Part One, complete with flashbacks across the whole series of JK Rowling's adventures. Yes, it's bowl cuts and spectacles galore with this fluffy look back at The Boy Who Lived when he was barely The Boy Who Stopped Wetting The Bed.

There's also a few tidbits from producer David Heyman and the rest of the cast (Emma Watson and Rupert Grint are amazingly not sick of their characters yet), and a nice load of clips from the upcoming finale, including Bill Nighy and Hagrid's sidecar-sporting motorbike. 

Now to be released in spectacular jaw-dropping 2D, trailers for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part One just keep on apparating online, but with only a few weeks left before we can finally see it, that sense of climax is actually starting to kick in. Either that, or I'm feeling ultra-soppy at the sight of ickle Danny wielding an owl that's twice the size of his head.

So this is probably the best press release my inbox has ever seen. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 is no longer in 3D. Dumbledore be praised!

Warner Bros. Pictures has made the decision to release Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 in 2D, in both conventional and IMAX theaters, as we will not have a completed 3D version of the film within our release date window. Despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to convert the film in its entirety and meet the highest standards of quality. We do not want to disappoint fans who have long anticipated the conclusion of this extraordinary journey, and to that end, we are releasing our film day-and-date on November 19, 2010, as planned.

After delaying Harry Potter, then 3D-ing it up, they've now decided it takes longer than 6 weeks to get a whole movie dimensionalised. Director David Yates said the decision "underscores the fact that Warner Bros. has always put quality first". Yes, this is the same studio who released Clash of the Titans.

Warner Bros have released new character banners for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Seven of them, to be precise. And boy, are they are dark.

We used the word dark to describe the last trailer we got too. And those other new posters. Seven times, to be precise. So it seems pointless to simply type up the word another seven times. But presume we did, because the darkness on show here certainly is darkifying (struggling for new words here).

The banners cast shadows over the whole ensemble. Bringing out the bumps in everyone's face, the all-new extra-gritty close-ups do reveal some shocking new details:

Hermione is bordering on Twilight's Bella Swan and Ron is looking furrier than Fenrir Greyback, who resembles an angry ent (or James Gandolfini in Where the Wild Things Are). As for Snape's impression of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, it only pales in comparison to Voldemort's incredible likeness to Gollum.

We received a rather hostile email from some people today, demanding that we release this video of Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe.

Ickle Danny Radcliffe, who grew up on screens in front of our eyes, has been kidnapped and is now being held hostage. He has been filmed reading off a piece of paper in a bid to persuade his tormentors to release him from a box buried somewhere underground.

The main gist of the recorded message? You have 50 days to do something, or Daniel Radcliffe will die. He will cease to be The Boy Who Lived. He will be an ex-Gryffindor. Or his new film will be released. It's one of those anyway.

After that amazing second trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One, I'm not sure I can take much more from the boy wizard and his friends (the thought of going through this all again when Part Two comes out is seriously daunting). But like a relentless train of darkness heading into a dark tunnel, some new posters have turned up online. And they're, you know, on the dark side.

So dark, in fact, that our three young heroes are on the run around London. Hiding along the South Bank, Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) are the main focus - there's no sign of Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) or Snape here, which highlights how much the main trio have grown since Hagrid and his motorbike first turned up.
