We all know that video game movies suck, right? Well, apart from Mortal Kombat, of course. But hot on the heels of Pirates of the Caribbean, Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer's Prince of Persia adaptation just might buck the trend. And the trailer's now online to prove it.
An epic action-adventure set in the mystical lands of Persia, it sees a rogue prince (Jake Gyllenhaal) join forces - reluctantly, of course - with Gemma Arterton's princess to protect an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time - a McGuffin from the Gods, which allows its owner to reverse time and rule the world.
It all sounds daft, but judging from the snappy preview, it's got the platform jumping and sword-swinging down pat. Jake Gyllenhaal has even got himself a rather decent British accent. And with him as the hunky lead, Gemma as his super-fit sidekick and Sir Ben Kingsley as the probably-not-quite-so-fit bad guy, this is shaping up to be some real blockbuster fun. Oh, and it's directed by Mike Newell by the way. Mike. Newell. How can this be bad? How?
It'll hit our cinemas in May next year, but check out the trailer over here in our videos section, or read on for the rather tasty poster.
