"They’ve all been brilliant." That's Mark Strong talking to Shortlist about wigs - and he's worn a lot over the years. But in Welcome to the Punch, Strong goes bald and proud, as director Eran Creevy bounces blue lights off his bonce to make him (and London) seem even more intimidating than normal.

 

But Eran marvels at the power of Mark Strong's hirsute method acting as much as the rest of us.

 

"I watched Tinker, Tailor after Welcome to the Punch and he’d worked out for Punch, but in Tinker he looks so different, so unassuming," he told me the other week (as part of an interview for Little White Lies). "It’s amazing how he can transform himself. One day, I hope he’ll have a wig like Phil Spector…"

 

And so, as Mark Strong's dome of manliness towers over our big screens once more, we give the director what he's always wanted - the Mark Strong hair salon.
