Film review: Wadjda

Every now and then, a film comes along that changes the world. Sometimes, you don't even realise it's doing it.

World War H – or hate’s not all that

What do Shyamalan, World War Z and Man of Steel have in common? Hype - and hate.

The Woman in Black 2 - sequel titles

Hammer announced yesterday that The Woman in Black will have a sequel. The film, which will see the British horror institution re-team with author Susan Hill, is going to be based on an original story, which she's been developing for the past few years.

In time-honoured tradition, The Woman in Black's follow-up will see us catch up with the titular spook, seeing what she's up to 40 years later when she's haunting a new couple who come across Eel Marsh House. Think of it as the Star Trek: The Next Generation. With ghosts.

It's no surprise that James Watkins' utterly terrifying movie has inspired a second outing. It's the highest grossing British horror of the past 20 years, taking over $33 million in the UK - that 12A BBFC rating really paid off. As well as Hill's involvement, it's promising to hear that Jon Crocker (the story editor on the original film) is scribbling the screenplay.

The only sad news? The title. The sequel will be called The Woman in Black: Angels of Death.

I really had my heart set on The Woman in Black 2: Cruise Control. Or 2 Woman 2 Black. Or, in a perfect world, The Woman in Black and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

"If only there were some crappily-Photoshopped posters and synopses to go with these alternate Woman in Black sequel ideas", I hear at least one person (OK, me) cry. Well, here you go...

The Woman in Black 2: Cruise Control

The Woman in Black 2: Cruise Control

Years after the events of Eel Marsh House, a couple board a fast-moving boat, only to find that it is haunted. Even more terrifying, they soon discover that if the ship's speed drops below 50 knots, The Woman in Black will blow up and kill everyone on board.

40 years after The Woman in Black, a new couple investigate the mystery of The Woman in Black's haunted house, only to discover that it has something to do with aliens. They instantly decide that this is the worst idea ever.

2 Woman 2 Black

2 Woman 2 Black

40 years after The Woman in Black and Daniel Radcliffe and Ciaran Hinds are both street racers in Miami. Staying on the right side of the wrong side of the law, the butch BFFs find themselves facing three spooky young girls in a race... for their lives. Will they be fast enough to beat The Woman in Black and her possessed driving triplets? Or is she simply 2 Woman and 2 Black?

The Woman in Black 2: The Secret of the Ooze

The Woman in Black 2

Four decades on from the events of James Watkins' film and Daniel Radcliffe begins to get the sneaking suspicion that he's being followed everywhere by someone dressed as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Could it be... The Woman in Black?
