Revenge of the Fallen. Death of Narrative Cinema. Dark of the Moon fits right in with those. Which is good news for Michael Bay, because that's the subtitle of Transformers 3.
Word of the name didn't spread the usual way: fan site TFW2005 spotted some new Transformers books on Amazon (including such literary titles as Autobots Betrayed!) which mentioned their tie-in with the movie. Because people who like Giant 3D Robots are obviously people who like to read.
Bay's third entry in the franchise, which may well wind things up for Shia LaBeouf and his metallic machines of destruction whiney stupid sidekicks friends, was thought to have a space connection and the title supports that. The Dark of the Moon is apparently "the last three days of the lunar cycle, immediately preceding the New Moon, and the time when the night sky is notably absent the presence of the moon".
The books hit the shelves in May next year, a few weeks before Friday 1st July, which is officially T 3D Day. Those astronomy fans too afraid to see the monsters coming should lock themselves in a room with Professor Brian Cox now.
