Ex-TREE-mely promising. Because pines are trees. Get it? No? Fine.


Arboreal puns aside, The Place Beyond the Pines trailer looks hugely promising. "A father-son crime drama? Who needs another of those?" you ask. But the video raises two other important questions: Firstly, why on earth hasn't this been promoted sooner? And secondly, after Blue Valentine, are Derek Cianfrance and Ryan Gosling capable of making a bad film together?


The Place Beyond the Pines is out in the UK on Friday 12th April. It also stars Rose Byrne and Bradley Cooper. Just in case you needed some more cool names to add to the list.
