Rooney Mara is fantastic in this delicate, sun-soaked Western

Film review: Wadjda

Every now and then, a film comes along that changes the world. Sometimes, you don't even realise it's doing it.

World War H – or hate’s not all that

What do Shyamalan, World War Z and Man of Steel have in common? Hype - and hate.

"Everything on this planet has evolved to kill humans," warns Will Smith to his son, Jaden Smith. Probably right before he steps on an oll-tempered twig that bites his head off and feeds it to a mutant butterfly.

Yes, After Earth's trailer is here and M. Night Shyamalan's sci-fi does a terrible job of hiding the fact that Will's gonna get it - and probably quite early on too - leaving his offspring to deal with the angry plants.

The title is spoilerific too: no prizes for guessing which planet Will and son are on. Oh yes. An apocalyptic and environmentally themed thriller set on (well, After) Earth? This looks every bit like The Happening 2.0. And this time, the trees want revenge. Presumably even the air has evolved to be poisonous, which begs the question: 1. How are they able to breathe if the ecosystem is so lethal? and 2. How long until the set piece where they have to try and outrun the wind?

Mark your predictions on the chart below after watching the trailer and we'll compare notes next year. The winner gets a potted plant, which will one day become sentient and throttle them in their sleep.

(Bonus points if you manage to predict the bit where Will turns out to be highly evolved geranium all along.)

Read on for the After Earth trailer.
