Film review: Wadjda

Every now and then, a film comes along that changes the world. Sometimes, you don't even realise it's doing it.

The UK Jewish Film Festival launched last night with This Must Be the Place, starring Sean Penn and Frances McDormand.

The film, which premiered at Cannes, stars Penn as an ageing rock star who decides to find his father’s tormentor, an ex-Nazi war criminal who’s living somewhere in the US. Il Divo's Paolo Sorrentino directs the drama, which launched the 2011 UK Jewish Film Festival - an event that promises to "promote awareness of international Jewish life and cultures to a diverse audience".

But what if (like us) you missed last night's opener? Here's the festival's official trailer to give you a better look at what's coming up. We'll be back later in the week with our recommended picks from the intriguing line-up.

The UK Jewish Film Festival runs until Sunday 20th November. The official site is over here
