Film review: Wadjda

Every now and then, a film comes along that changes the world. Sometimes, you don't even realise it's doing it.

World War H – or hate’s not all that

What do Shyamalan, World War Z and Man of Steel have in common? Hype - and hate.

There aren't many words that get me as excited as the phrase "new Drive trailer". And with Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan, Christina Hendricks and Ron Perlman all in the vehicle, the latest video for Nicolas Winding Refn's thriller is scorching stuff.

Drive tells the story of Gosling's stunt driver, who takes getaway jobs with not-very-nice people to keep him busy on the side. Enter Carey Mulligan, his cute neighbour, her husband, and a whole lot of in-car action. In short, it's generic stuff, but you can tell from the trailer just how stylish Winding Refn's visuals and soundtrack are. It's almost enough to make you forgive him for Valhalla Rising. Here's the video:

Drive is out in UK cinemas on Friday 23rd September. But if it isn't one of the secret screenings at Empire's BigScreen at the O2 this weekend (tickets are still available), I'll be massively disappointed.
