Remember GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra? Remember how Cobra rose and all that? Well, now we Paramount are booting up a sequel. And Stephen Sommers is interested.
Despite rumours of a disagreement over editing last time round, Sommers is (according to The Wrap) ready to sign up for a second outing. Which either means he has nothing else to do (he's got a Tarzan project on the go too) or he really enjoyed working on the first GI Joe. And the paycheck that involved.
It's no surprise Paramount are looking at a sequel - GI Joe made over $300 million worldwide, even with a massive critical backlash and a fairly weak performance in the UK. They've already got a script going, from Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and they're supposedly happy with what they're reading.
Once Sommers signs on, it's just a case of bringing the cast back together. Channing Tatum will no doubt agree to return as Duke, bless him. As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Well, they'll have to try some Inception of their own if they want him to come back.
