Rhys Darby acting in any comedy is always a good thing - just look at how much Yes Man improved with the presence of Murray Hewitt. But this is especially exciting news, because Darby will be romancing it up with none other than Britain's own Sally Hawkins.
Yes, that Happy-Go-Lucky lass (deserving winner of a Golden Globe) will be one of two Love Birds in director Paul Murphy's rom-com. She plays a kooky vet, while Darby's a depressed loner who's caring for an injured bird whilst mending his broken heart. Aww, bless.
Written by Nick Ward - who worked with director Murphy on Dean Spanley - this sounds like a wounded pigeon, but with such brilliant leads, it could easily take flight. The two are in New Zealand shooting it at the moment. The film, that is. Not the metaphorical bird.
