Zoolander 2

Really, really, ridiculously disappointing.

The Assassin

There are martial arts movies and there are martial arts movies. The Assassin isn't either.

Batman v Superman

A bold, mature exploration of myths and epics - followed by a two-hour mess.

Fox McCloud has spent years defending the Lylat system, but there's one enemy he's never been able to defeat... himself.

So this is pretty much the greatest thing that has ever been done involving space, Wes Anderson and stop-motion furry puppets - unless Wes Anderson were to actually make this film. Particular highlights include the banjo and Owen Wilson's Falcon saying "Einstein".

Fact of the day: you can't barrel roll away from who you are.

"Who am I, Kylie? Why a fox? Why not a horse, or a beetle, or a bald eagle? I'm saying this more as, like, existentialist, you know...?" The kids certainly won't. We all remember Mr Fox from our childhood days, that chicken-stealing ground-digging rascally Roald Dahl rogue. But as Wes Anderson's stop-motion starts up, you quickly realise that this is not the Mr Fox you read about as a child. This is Wes Anderson's Mr Fox. And he's got style.

The London Film Festival kicks off tonight with its opening gala feature, Fantastic Mr Fox. No, we’re not there tonight – there wasn’t enough space on the carpet (even in my most slimming suit, I take up quite a bit of space in the behind region) – but you know where we were? At The Dorchester for the opening press conference for Wes Anderson’s stop-motion take on Roald Dahl’s classic kid’s novel.

Also in the room were George Clooney, Wes Anderson, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzman, Eric Anderson, Wally Wolodarsky, Jarvis Cocker, and George Clooney (did I mention him already?). Sitting with tongue out, pencil in hand, taking in the delights of the beautiful Ballroom, the room erupted into applause when the stars took to the (very tiny) stage. Then the questions began...

Hold your tails, folks! There's a brand spanking new trailer for Fantastic Mr Fox online. You remember the first one and how it was... different? Well, this one's even differenter! Gone are the concerns on look or style: it looks absolutely awesome.

Wes Anderson's stop motion take on Roald Dahl's loveable furry thief sees Mr Fox (George Clooney), who is fantastic, keen to move to a new home - despite warnings about the evil local farmers, Boggis (Brian Cox), Bunce (Hugo Guiness) and Bean (Michael Gambon). Naturally he does it anyway, and things turn out... a little less than fantastic. And then more chaos happens, and everything gets all fantastic again. Huzzah!

Fantastic Mr Fox is out in the UK on 23rd October, and you know what? This isn't looking like the most accurate Roald Dahl adaptation. This is looking like the best Wes Anderson film of all time. Yes, that includes Tenenbaums. Check out the trailer over here at Apple, or keep reading...

Certificate: 12A
Release Date: Friday 23rd October

Here it is, Roald Dahl's classic kid's novel on screen. But not as we know it. Wes Anderson's first animated film tells the stop-motion story of Mr and Mrs Fox (George Clooney and Meryl Streep), who live in an idyllic home with their son Ash (Jason Schwartzman) and young nephew, Kristopherson. But after 12 years, the bucolic existence proves too much for Mr Fox's wild animal instincts. Soon he slips back into his old ways as a sneaky chicken thief and in doing so, endangers not only his beloved family, but the whole animal community. Trapped underground and with not enough food to go around, the animals band together to fight against the evil Farmers - Boggis, Bunce and Bean - who are determined to capture the audacious, fantastic Mr Fox at any cost.
