Remember when JJ Abrams unofficially turned Star Trek into a $150 million advert for Star Wars by smuggling in R2-D2?
That may happen all over again for Star Trek Into Darkness - if the latest rumours are to be believed. (And, more importantly, confirmed.) Either way, Paramount will be a little annoyed this morning. Fanboys will be a little over-excited. And websites will be hit-whoring and traffic-baiting like there's no such thing as film journalism any more. Me? I'm just pleased to have finally heard about R2-D2's Star Trek cameo. Talk about a Bad Robot. (Ha ha. Get it?)
You can watch the video proof of the only verified connection between Star Wars and JJ Abrams here.
Meanwhile, we'll continue playing with our Star Wars Rumour Generator until film blogs have tried to publish every single one of them. ("Breaking: JJ Abrams said the word 'space' while out drinking with George Lucas" was last week. Next week, I'm hoping for "Confirmed: C3PO to build Jedi Academy with your mum".)
