If this a rom-com, kill the director. If this is a rom-zom-com, get David O Russell! Strange words, but true, folks. Yes, according to Pajiba, Mr O Russell himself will be lensing the popular novel Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.
It was no surprise that Seth Graham-Smith's book would get picked up by some studio - it flew off the shelves like the proverbial undead when it was released. Still, David O Russell is a weird choice. Don't get me wrong - I loved Huckabees as much as he did, but the Three Kings helmer hasn't exactly done costume drama zombies before.
Then again, neither has anyone else. So while it seems a bit odd to pick Mr O Russell to direct leading lady Natalie Portman, it's hard not to look forward to a witty take on Jane Austen's undead-infested feminine classic. At the very least, we may get another rant at Lily Tomlin halfway through.

Robin Hood Trailer Online |

Thanks to ComingSoon.net, we can all enjoy a glimpse of Ridley Scott's upcoming Robin Hood movie. Remember? The one we all heard about a while ago? With Russell Crowe? Well, now we've seen more of it, I can confirm that if it does tell you the truth behind the legend, it does it with a lot of slow-mo. And Very Loud Music. I know this is hardly high-quality teaser stuff, but it's all a bit Zack Snyder. With a large side portion of Gladiator. Mark Strong looks suitably villainish, and I'm sure Cate Blanchett will be great, but really? Is this Robin Hood? It looks like a companion to Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes. It's got all the grit and "historical accuracy" but none of the humour or fun; "Rise and rise again, until lambs become lions". Hardly Bryan Adams, is it? Give me Kevin Costner any day. Or at least Alan Rickman.
Robin Hood hits our cinemas in May next year with full-on, sword-swinging slow-motion action. But hey, at least it has Matthew MacFayden in it. For pictures, head over to Australia's Courier Mail, or read on for the full video.

Sherlock Holmes Premiere: Video Replay |

The rain poured and the fans screamed, but that didn't stop the stars turning up last night for the premiere of Sherlock Holmes. Led by Robert Downey Jr. (complete with dashing hat), the cast, including Jude Law, Kelly Reilly and Rachel McAdams strolled down the carpet to witness this re-imagining of Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic detective. And you could watch the whole thing live from here. But if you missed the video stream (there were a few technical issues - it seems Downey Jr. has fitted some kind of lead-coated anti-stalking device), then never fear, check out the best bits below. Yes, you can still enjoy Ritchie's colourful vocals and Jude Law's spotty scarf; Leicester Square never had it so good. Except for when Guy Ritchie went inside.
Read on for the full video (and more pretty pictures), or check out the rather fun trailers over here. We'll give you our official review shortly.

Sherlock Holmes Premiere - Live Streaming! |

Excited about Holmes yet? I still am, despite my... issues with Guy Ritchie. But how's this for excitement: a live stream from the red carpet of the Sherlock Holmes premiere tonight. Can't make it to Leicester Square? Don't have the guts (or bail release) to stalk Robert Downey Jr. all the way down the carpet? Now you can do it from your own living room - isn't technology wonderful?
The video feed kicks off here at 5.50pm precisely, and then goes on until the last of the stars have disappeared inside the cinema (at about 7.30pm). So if you want your Jude Law fix, or even feel like throwing things at Guy Ritchie, come back here around 6 o'clock and go wild.
Keep reading for the full-on live coverage. Or, if you're hanging around waiting, head here for the trailer or check out the rather impressive (nay, revolutionary) interactive sleuthing game over at www.221b.sh.

Sigourney Plays Scriptbuster |

Your best mate, the guy down the pub, even your bin man - everyone seems to know something about Ghostbusters 3. But holster your Proton Packs, because here to bust those rumours for good is Sigourney Weaver herself. Chatting to Channel 4 News about Avatar (don't act like you haven't heard about it), she let slip a few details about the much-mooted sequel. "I’m afraid to say it: Ghostbusters 3 is happening. I hope people are excited about that. I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have had a couple of calls asking "would you read the script?" But what is in this script she speaks of? "I know that my little son Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster... I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it - he’s a ghost."
Does that mean Peter Venkman will be the new Slimer? Keep watching the walls, folks - we'll start stalking Murray now and let you know. Unless we get arrested first.

Spidey's Vulture: Malkovich Can Fly? |

Malkovich, Malkovich? Malkovich Malkovich Malkovich! That's pretty much what goes through most people's heads at least 20% of the time. No wonder, given that this is the man who is 100% awesome. Especially when he's playing a bad guy. So it's great news to hear that, according to Movieline, The Malkovich has been offered the part of the villain in Sam Raimi's next Spidey flick. The bad news being, of course, that Spider-Man 4 exists in the first place. Who might Malkovich play? Why, none other than The Vulture - aka Adrian Toomes, a robber who dons a hi-tech harness that allows him to FLY. The Vulture will apparently be joined by none other than Anne Hathway, who will be playing... you guessed it, The Vulturess.
The Vulturess? Who are these people?! Well, while The Vulture is a true old-school villain for Spidey, The Vulturess is a brand new one they've made up (cue obligatory fan outrage). The theories going round at the moment suggest that she'll be a tinkered version of Black Cat, whose alter ego Felicia Hardy is confirmed to appear in Spider-Man 4 (following massive Hollywood-wide auditions from all the hot young beautiful laydees).
Will two villains work properly this time? Will Tobey Maguire sort out his face? And will Hathaway donning black leather really appease the fans? I don't really care. I'm not a Spider-Man fanatic to say the least. But anything that makes John Malkovich fly has certainly piqued my interest. Filming on Spidey starts in March, before it slings into our cinemas in May 2011.

IMAX to Eclipse Twilight Saga |

You could hear it coming. The massive footfalls of the IMAX cinema, stomping its way to Stephenie Meyer's door. And now it's here. Eclipse, the next entry after New Moon (as if you didn't know that), will be hitting IMAX screens next year when it arrives next June. Directed by David Slade (of the wonderful Hard Candy), Eclipse will be a departure from previous entries in that it will actually have some decent action set pieces - like, the whole ending of the film and stuff. And now all that CGI (and Edward's pale complexion) will be up there for all teenage girls to see, as big as a flipping bus.
Now all we need to do is film the obsessive fans and force them to watch their screaming selves afterwards. That might shut them up. Or maybe they'll just scream even louder. As long as they provide IMAX-sized earmuffs, I'll be happy.

Sorcerer's Apprentice Trailer Now Online |

Well, it's here: the first proper trailer for The Sorcerer's Apprentice (as re-imagined by Jerry Bruckheimer). And you know what? It's not a complete car crash (unlike most of the production's awry stunt sequences). It's a long way from Fantasia, and that short segment was perhaps its best bit, but here we get shaggy haired Cage as Balthazer Blake, a magician trying to defend New York (i.e. The Human Race) from Alfred Molina's evil wizard Horvath. And so he signs up young Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) to learn from him and his magical CGI ways.
Helmed by Jon Turteltaub, this looks to be more fun than National Treasure. Like, seriously good fun. And you know what? From what's on show here, The Cage would seriously kick Mickey's butt.
Check out the trailer at Apple, or read on for the full-blown HD video.
