Just as the season starts up again, Formula 1 gets a kick almost as big as Lewis Hamilton: Tobey Maguire. Yes, Spidey himself has signed on to star in the real-life drama of the 1961 Grand Prix. Tobey will play Jeff Hill, rival to his team-mate Wolfgang Von Trips, and the only American to have won the World Drivers' Championship (hello, tragedy-tinged happy ending).

The film, scripted by Tony Peckham (from an upcoming novel of the same title), won't be around for a while, but is this the chance F1 has waited for? Is it bye bye NASCAR and hello Hollywood? They're clearly hoping for pole position with this one.
